Preparing to conceive
Natural remedies for fertility
Baby steps to getting pregnant easily
Once you’ve decided to start your family or add to your existing one, it’s quite natural to want it to happen tomorrow. In fact most healthy young. couples take anything from 6 months to a year to conceive, and the time it takes increases with age.
For some couples, getting pregnant can take a stressfully long time, sometimes because of an underlying health condition such as PCOS, or sometimes for no obvious reason
The best way of improving your chances of conceiving easily, is to spend about three months getting your system into the best possible shape, optimising egg quality and removing obstacles.
This goes for your partner too, as his sperm is 50% of the answer, and it’s been shown that age has an equal effect on sperm as on a woman’s eggs.
Even if you’re already committed to doing IVF or other ART, working on your health and that of you eggs (and his sperm) can make a big difference to your chance of success
Fertile Ground pre-conception program
Here at Fertile Ground, I offer a 3 month Preparing to Conceive program. The program is entirely personal. It’s based on a discussion of your health history, your current lifestyle, eating habits, stress and anxiety, and on a Chinese diagnosis of your reproductive health.
Whether you come alone to the initial consultation or with your partner, we’ll discuss where you are now, and talk about your hopes and anxieties. We’ll talk about what you eat and what your daily life is like, and decide on the best way forward.
Together we’ll establish a plan of action for lifestyle change, and over the next three months, I’ll support you as you make adjustments.
Using a combination of acupuncture, Chinese herbs, nutritional advice and energy work, I aim to
- Bring your hormones into balance
- Improve blood flow to your ovaries and womb
- Reduce inflammation
- Reduce the negative effects of stress
At each appointment we can talk about how you’re getting on and any further changes you could make.
The internet is awash with advice on how to get pregnant quickly, and for many women this is enough to see them on their way, but most of my patients value the personal assessment, the hand holding and the individual attention that helps them to stay positive, focused and on track.
They also notice the effects pf treatments and energy work on their menstrual cycle, their stress and anxiety levels and any other general health problems they may have been suffering such as insomnia, headaches or digestive problems.

The idea of a so-called ‘pre-mester’ is to help you focus on different aspects of getting pregnant and remove any obstacles you might discover.
The truth is, it’s never too soon (or to late) to start optimising your health and fertility.
There are practical, physical, emotional and environmental factors that can get in the way of easy conception. The more of these you can identify and get rid of, the smoother your path to pregnancy will be.
